Museveni Orders Probe Into NRM Primary Complaints, Promises Development Boost for Namutumba

By Jumah Kakomo and Kabuye Ronald

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential candidate and Party National Chairman, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has directed the NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, to convene a special session to handle all complaints arising from the recent party primaries.

Speaking at an NRM presidential campaign rally in Namutumba District, President Museveni urged all members with evidence of electoral malpractice to prepare to present it before Kigongo’s probe team, assuring them that the party will deliver justice where necessary.

During the rally, Gen. Museveni outlined his plans for job creation and the implementation of free education in his next term of office. He also announced additional road infrastructure projects earmarked for Namutumba District, including the Nabumali–Namutumba–Butaleja road, the Busembatya–Namakoko road, and the Kaliro–Namutumba road.

The President further revealed a planned electricity expansion program intended to cover the remaining three sub-counties in the district. He directed district leaders to raise Namutumba’s water coverage above the current 44 percent and emphasized the need to upgrade several health centres to meet the demands of the district’s growing population.

Gen. Museveni also ordered district leaders to comply with the government policy of establishing at least one primary school per parish and one secondary school per sub-county. He noted that Namutumba District currently has 109 government primary schools distributed across only 51 parishes, contrary to policy requirements.

Highlighting significant progress in the education sector under the NRM leadership, the President praised NRM historicals and families who contributed to Uganda’s liberation struggle since the 1970s. He called on the electorate to protect and build on the achievements of peace, stability, and development by re-electing the NRM government in the forthcoming general elections.
