Uganda is growing because of peace and stability-NRM’s Namayanja

By Jumah Kakomo

The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt.Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko has said peace and sustainable stability ushered in by the NRM government have been strong pillars to the growth and development of the country.

Namayanja urged that the unprecedented peace has attracted investors to engage in various businesses without fears of losing their investments to instability.

“Uganda has grown in rips and bounds and continues to grow majorly due to the peace and stability that we enjoy. We thank President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM government for promising and living up to the promise of bringing a fundamental change within the country,” Hon.Namayanja said.

She praised President Museveni for his visionary leadership today Friday in a joint press conference held with Dr John C Muyingo, the Minister of Education and Sports in charge of Higher Education at NRM headquarters at Plot10, Kyadondo road, Nakasero where  achievements in the education sector were listed.

Before the NRM government, Namayanja said only privileged children attained education since children of the poor couldn’t afford school fees but the narrative changed with the coming of the current government.

“The NRM came up with the Universal Primary Education (UPE) and later Universal Secondary Education (USE), programs that enabled all children to attain at least minimum level of education,” Namayanja said.

Minister Muyingo said among the many NRM achievements in the education sector is the 78 universities spread across the country building from just one Makerere University.

“We had only one university enrolling less than 50,000 students but now we have 78 universities that are absorbing and skilling Ugandans into many fields. We have rehabilitated and built many more technical institutions, secondary and primary schools across the country,” Dr Muyingo said.
