President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, has announced plans to establish a milk-chocolate factory and an industrial park in Bundibugyo District to boost value addition to the region’s abundant cocoa and mineral resources.

Speaking during the NRM presidential campaign rally at Bumadu Playgrounds in the Rwenzori Sub-region, President Museveni revealed that he has already identified potential investors to actualize the milk-chocolate factory, which is expected to create thousands of jobs and expand the market for cocoa farmers.

The President added cocoa growing to the list of profitable enterprises for households in Bundibugyo, encouraging residents to intensify production for wealth creation. He reaffirmed government plans to provide financial support to growers and outlined several other viable enterprises for smallholder farmers, including coffee, fish farming, fruit growing, poultry, and dairy farming.

President Museveni shared examples of successful wealth creators who have thrived under the NRM mass-line philosophy and urged aspiring entrepreneurs to emulate their discipline and commitment.

On health services, the NRM presidential candidate announced plans to expand Bundibugyo General Hospital and upgrade several other health centers across the district. He also highlighted the government’s intention to increase the number of education facilities beyond the current 107 primary schools and 12 secondary schools.

The President assured residents that the government will reconstruct the Fort Portal–Bundibugyo Road and implement additional road infrastructure upgrades to support economic growth. He emphasized the importance of prioritization among leaders and citizens to ensure effective service delivery.

Museveni further urged Bundibugyo voters to elect leaders with integrity, free of corruption, and grounded in sound ideological understanding. He encouraged the youth and households to seize available job opportunities in commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and skills development.

He also called on parents to embrace universal education programs to guarantee schooling for all children in government institutions. Museveni emphasized healthy living, proper feeding, and productivity as key components of household transformation, and reassured residents of the NRM government’s continued commitment to improving health services and strengthening lower health facilities.

On security, he reaffirmed government plans to maintain peace in Bundibugyo District and cautioned individuals attempting to destabilize the country.

NRM Second National Vice Chairperson Anita Among highlighted the government’s development achievements in Bundibugyo and cautioned against emerging internal party factions. The district NRM Chairperson, David Kabyanga, presented the district status report during the rally.
