The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has said that the NRM government’s ultimate goal is to ensure that all Ugandans are fully integrated into the money economy through direct support and guidance from government socioeconomic empowerment programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP), Women Entrepreneurship Programme (WEP), among others.

General Museveni said he is not interested in leading people merely for the sake of leadership, but rather in uplifting all Ugandans out of poverty to build a progressive and prosperous country. He urged residents of Mityana District to actively participate in the government’s wealth creation and empowerment initiatives.

Speaking during an NRM presidential campaign rally held at Ssaza Grounds in Mityana District, Museveni revealed that Uganda’s coffee-growing initiative has significantly boosted exports to about 10 million bags, generating over USD 200 billion in earnings.

He further promised the construction of additional tarmac roads in Mityana District, including the Kanoni–Manyi–Mityana–Ssekanyonyi road, to improve connectivity and support economic development.
Museveni attributed delays in some infrastructure projects to opposition politicians whom he described as diversionary and lacking strategic focus on government development programs. He called on residents to safeguard the prevailing peace and security, noting that stability is a prerequisite for sustained development.

The President also committed to constructing more government primary and secondary schools in Mityana District to supplement the existing 156 government primary schools and 13 government secondary schools. He assured residents of continued improvements in the health sector and broader economic infrastructure.
Museveni outlined the three core pillars of the NRM wealth creation strategy, including the four-acre model, proper selection of commercial enterprises, and effective enterprise management. He announced plans for a massive irrigation scheme in Mityana District to enhance agricultural mechanisation and productivity, while urging residents to preserve wetlands to support the initiative.

He said the planned irrigation project would replicate the successful Presidential Banana Development Initiative in Bushenyi District, enabling farmers in Mityana to increase yields and incomes.
Additionally, Museveni pledged to scale up water distribution in the district beyond the current 86 percent coverage across its 613 villages. He also highlighted various job creation strategies aimed at expanding employment opportunities.

At the same rally, NRM First National Vice Chairperson Alhaji Moses Kigongo called on party members in Mityana District to maintain unity, discipline, and consistency to secure a consolidated victory in the forthcoming general elections.
The Mityana District NRM Chairperson, John Kintu, presented the district memorandum to the party leadership.
