M7 petitioned: how gov’t officials connived with land grabbers, late Sobi goons to evict NRA fighter Mwanje’s children from their land in Mukono

The family of the late National Resistance Army fighter which brought in power the ruling National Resistance movement NRM government Musa Mwanje of Kakuba, Kiyanja- Nakisunga sub county in Mukono district on block 223, plot 385 among others measuring 150 acres have petitioned the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni following their eviction from the same land their family has occupied since 1950s and on which the president built house on for their Father in appreciation for his contribution during the armed struggle.

In the petition seen by this website and received by the office of the president, signed by the Late Musa Mwanje’s children that include: Sebuufu Diriisa, Bakiddawo Swaliki, Kalyango Hood, Nakulima Hanifah, Sseruwu Khalid, Kamya Akimu, Mukuba Abdu Ssembajwe, Mujwala Juma, Ssembajwe Mahad Muhamad, Kawoowo Ratifah Mwanje, Ssenabulya Nashifu, Nalubowa Mayimuna Nalongo, Namujju Hasanat, Kyebayiga Sazziri and Kintu  Huzaifah they want the president to intervene in their matter and save them from land grabbers who are said to have connived with the Mukono District Resident Commissioner Hajat. Faridah Ndisaba, a one Rtd. Col. Ssegujja who claim to be attached to CMI, police RPC Kampala east Namara, OC Nakisunga police, LC3 Nakisunga, LC1 Kiyenje, Mr. Ssenkungu, Rujinji, Tabule, Sserwadda, Sembajwe Galuje, Kalala, Sebuffu, late Sobi alias Paddy Sserunjoji, Deo, Sebive who are said to have come on the land with a gang of kifeesi boys wielding with pangas and spears and malicious evicted them from their land.

“A gang of Kifeesi boys, on 10th, October, 2023, attacked us and maliciously damaged our property where they cut down approximately 45 acres of trees, plantations, demolished our homes, stole approximately60 cows, approximately 70 goats, water tanks and all material from the demolished houses on purported claims that they have bibanja interests on our land yet these people are unknown to us” reads part of the petition.

The petitioners appealed to the president to urgently intervene and prevail over the matter so that those mentioned offices and officers are restrained from misusing their offices to torture them by helping land grabbers and letting them evict them from their land and homes where they have lived all their lives.

They also appealed to the president to direct the relevant offices to revisit the scene, arrest all goons, stop the illegal eviction and investigate the matter to ascertain the ownership of the said land and the baseless claims of the purported bibanja owners.

The petitioners also said that they have repeatedly opened up cases at police but they have not been helped but instead helped the goons to carry out irregularities in addition to total disregard of the court order stopping any evictions on the land. Some of the cases opened up include: SD- Ref 33/08/10/2023. SD- Ref 38/08/10/2023, SD- Ref 63/14/10/ 2023 among others.

In a press conference held on Saturday by Musa Mwanje’s family led by Sebuufu Diriisa they also revealed that apart from Brig Gen Moses Lukyamuzi the head of Presidential Special Task Force on Land Matters and Environment who went gon ground and directed all activities to be stopped which order was allegedly trashed by the RDC Hajat. Faridah Ndisaba and her accomplices (RPC and DPC) who refused to visit the scene and instead encouraged land grabbers to continue trespassing on their land and destroying their properties which has rendered them homeless on the land they have lived for all their entire lives and derived livelihood which has put their lives in danger as the said land grabbers together with their accomplices are purportedly determined to finish them off.

The late Musa Mwanje is said to have died intestate early 2023 and left various properties including land measuring approximately 150 acres which he purchased over time since the 1950.

Some of the land which is still registered in his name and others in which he transferred in some of his children and grandchildren’s names to hold in trust of other beneficiaries include: Kyaggwe block 223 plot 385 land at Kakuba in the names of Diriisa Sebuufu, Juma Mujwala, Sazziri Kyebayiga and Akimu Kamya, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 763 land at Nakoosi in the names of Mwanje Musa, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 86 land at Nakunsi in the names of Mwanje Musa, Kyaggwe block 223 plot 58 land at Kakuba in the names of Muhamudu Muyanja, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 114 land at Nakunsi in the names of Musa Mwanje, Kyaggwe block 223 plot 65 land at Kakuba in the names of Sebuufu Diriisa, Kamya Akimu, Mujwala Juma and Kyebayiga Sazziri, Kyaggwe block 222 plot 183 land at Lubugumu in the names of Mwanje Musa, Kyaggwe block 223 plot 389 land at Kakuba in the names of Sebuufu Diriisa, Kamya Akimu, Mujwala Juma and Kyebayiga Sazziri, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 767 land at Nakoosi in the names of Musa Mwanje, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 113 land at Nakoosi in the names of Musa Mwanje, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 112 land at Nakunsi in the names of Musa Mwanje, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 220 land at Nakoosi in the names of Musa Mwanje, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 111 land at Nakoosi, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 11o land at Nakoosi, Kyaggwe block 222 plot 234, Kyaggwe block 221 plot 232 land at Nakoosi, and among others.
