Uganda Airlines Expands Network with Three New African Destinations

By Jumah Kakomo

Uganda Airlines has launched three new routes, expanding its network to over 14 destinations.

Jenifer Bamuturaki, the executive director of Uganda Airlines, beamed with pride as she announced the expansion of the airline’s three new routes to Africa.

The new routes are Harare, Abuja, and Lusaka. During the launch of these routes on Wednesday, Bamuturaki explained that the expansion was part of the airline’s strategic plan to build a robust regional network and increase connectivity within Africa. “We are committed to providing safe, reliable, and efficient air travel to our customers,” she said.

The launch of the new routes was met with excitement from stakeholders, including government officials, travel agents, and passengers. Bamuturaki acknowledged the support, saying, “We couldn’t have done this without the collaboration of our partners and the trust of our customers.”

As the airline’s executive director, Bamuturaki has been instrumental in driving growth and innovation. Her leadership has resulted in significant milestones, including the expansion of routes.

Bamuturaki’s vision for Uganda Airlines is to become a leading carrier in Africa, connecting the continent and promoting economic growth. With the expansion of routes, the airline is poised to achieve this goal.

“We are proud to be a part of Africa’s growth story,” Bamuturaki said. “And we look forward to continuing to serve our customers with excellence and dedication.”

About the new Routes:

Abuja Launch: The service to Abuja will start on September 12, 2024, with flights operated every Sunday and Thursday.

Lusaka and Harare Launch: Flights to Lusaka and Harare will launch on September 25, 2024, and will operate four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Strategic Expansion: The entry into these markets is meant to build an efficient and optimized regional market, grow the aircraft fleet utilization, create a robust regional network, and support Uganda Airlines’ Africa network connectivity.

According to Jenifer Bamuturaki, CEO of Uganda Airlines, launching these routes marks the successful conclusion of their 3-year strategic plan, paving the way for the next phase of their 10-year rolling plan.

“This is a momentous occasion for us,” she said, “as we launch flights to Abuja, Lusaka, and Harare.”
