Councilors Remanded After State House Operation Uncovers PDM Funds Theft

The state house Anti-corruption has arrested other three sacco leaders including area councilor for Nawampandu Parish in connection to stealing PDM money belonging to some individuals in Namutumba district.

 ,according to state house officials basing on their earlier interventions in Namutumba, several other cases of extortion by Sacco Leaders and the Woman Councillor for Nawampandu Parish were reported.

During the investigations ,state house officials found out that Nawampandu Councillor, Hon Namugosa Farida, extorted money totalling UGX 1,850,000/= from three beneficiaries, Ajambo Dorothy(650,000), Kagoya Edinasi(700,000), and Nampina Jamawa (500,000). 

The PDM Sacco Chairperson for Nawampandu “A” Cattle rearing PDM Sacco, Mr. Namaba Rogers also used the opportunity and extorted UGX 900,000/= from an old lady Mutesi Alice(61 years), and lastly,

The PDM SACCO Chairperson of Kasegere B, Nakyere Parish PDM Sacco, Ms. Kantono Ruth, extorted UGX 900,000/= from Musene Scovia

The state house Anti corruption operations in Namutumba have created a tough room to PDM program handlers more especially the greedy officials that can’t miss any chance of cheating beneficiaries of government programs .

The operations in Namutumba by state house have left many officials including politicians arrested and remanded 

The parish development model aims at increasing household income and improve the quality of livelihood of Ugandans with a specific focus on the total economic transformation on the households through getting Ugandans out of the subsistence economy into the money economy.

Yesterday 22/07/2024 during  evening hours , all three suspects were arrested and arraigned immediately before the Chief Magistrates Court at Iganga on charges of cheating. 

They have been remanded to 2nd/08/2024 

Though the accused Mr Namaba Rogers  asked the magistrate to allow him  access bail on matters of being sick ,he was denied chance until 2/08/2024.
