Fallen Orthodox Church Archbishop Jonah Lwanga prayed for in Greece

The body of the Archbishop of Kampala and All Uganda Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga has on Thursday been taken to the Parish St Athanasius the Great for a memorial service.

St Athanasius the Great is the Headquarters of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Kipseli Athens, Greece.

A memorial service was conducted after the holy liturgy and it was presided over by Bishop George of Guinea who also doubles as the Patriarchal representative in Athens. 

Others present were Bishop Emmanuel of Ptolemeida in Egypt, Bishop Yowanis of Zambia and Mozambique together with Ugandan Clergy in Greece.

According to the latest burial program as communicated by the Orthodox Church board of trustee Chairperson Fr. Kibuuka Bbosa, the body of Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga will be laid to rest on Wednesday 15, September 2021 at St. Nicholas Cathedral Namungoona next to the grave of the Late Metropolitan Theodoros Nankyama not at Holy Transfiguration Parish, Ddegeya Luweero District as it had been earlier communicated.

In the same way, the body of the deceased Prelate with arrive in the country on Monday morning.

The Late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga succumbed to Carcinoma cancer on Sunday Evening in a hospital in Athens capital city of Greece
