Tragedy Strikes as Three Children Die in Fire, Two Others Rescued with Severe Burns

By Robert Segawa

Police have confirmed the heartbreaking deaths of three children in a fire at their home in Kitaka zone, Busega Parish, Rubaga Division. The incident claimed the lives of 13-year-old Nalukwago Daniella, 6-year-old Lukwago Darius, and 3-year-old Muwanguzi Diego. Their father, Mugerwa Arnest, and a sibling, Mugerwa Marvin, were rescued from the blaze but sustained severe burns and are currently receiving treatment at Mulago Kiruddu Referral Hospital.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Police Spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan area, the fire was reported to the Nateete police by a neighbor named Nakimera. Responding officers found that the fire had already been contained by members of the community.

Initial investigations suggest that the children tragically lost their lives due to suffocation from carbon monoxide. The three bodies have been transferred to the city mortuary at Mulago for post-mortem examinations, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This tragic event has left the local community in mourning, highlighting the urgent need for fire safety awareness and prevention measures.
