Police fires live bullets in Kampala to disperse people, arrests own officer

Police working with other security agencies have on Monday morning fired live bullets in the air to disperse people in Kampala central business area.

The justification for dispersing people was that they were crowding and wanted to open up shops, go about their business yet they were stopped by president museveni in abide to fight the spread of Corona virus.

In the process, police also arrested its own khaki uniformed officer Turyasingura, put him on their patrol car with calls to feel at home.

The bleeding officer from mouth and nose is alleged to have been found hiding and protecting traders in the arcade before threatening to shoot his fellow officers who were effecting the arrests along mini price.

Traders who we spoke to expressed dismay over security organs conduct asserting that they misinterpreted the president’s directives.

Some questioned why the president wants them to die of starvation yet they can do their work in full compliance with the covid standard operating procedures.

While declaring the 42 days lockdown on Friday, president Museveni closed the kikuubo area and all other crowded places but he was unclear about Arcades and shopping mall.
