A security guard has shot dead two colleagues and after turned the gun to himself. The gruesome murder happened on Thursday evening at exactly 9 pm at Shumuk Aluminium LTD in Nakawa division.
According to police findings one Machugayi Emmanuel attached to Ryayo security group Ltd accessed a firearm from a colleague and, without provocation, fatally shot two fellow security guards: Kakyebezi Ashiraf aged 21 and Owechi Stephen.
Following the attack, the suspect retreated to a nearby house and later turned the gun on himself after realizing he was surrounded by security operatives.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson said upon receiving the report, the Jinja Road Police Division swiftly responded, deploying a team of officers to investigate the matter. In the process three bodies were recovered and transported to KCCA Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination.
He further adds that the investigating team also recovered two rifles and several cartridges from the scene of crime.
Eyewitness statements were recorded from the first responding security officers at the scene.
“We have not yet found the motive behind the shooting, but the investigation is underway.” Says Owoyesigyire .
Owoyesigyire adds that more inquiries are ongoing and investigation team will provide additional updates in due course. “We urge the public to remain calm as investigations into the matter unfold.”
