Ugandan parliament to officially close next week

Parliament of Uganda will officially close for two weeks following the increased number of infection of Covid 19 second wave.

In the communication to members of parliament dated 22, June, 2021 and signed by Waiswa Henry Yoweri on behalf of the Clerk to Parliament, the closure takes effect on Monday 28th, June, 2021 to 11th, July, 2021.

The clerk says the period is going to be used to disinfect the parliamentary buildings since the infection of Covid 19 positivity rate stands at 17.1%.

In the period of two weeks, all members of parliament will not be allowed to access the parliamentary building 

“As a mitigating measure in the prevention of the covid 19 infection, the administration of parliament in consultation with the office of the speaker is closing parliament to Hon. Members of parliament for a period of two weeks in order to disinfect the parliamentary buildings.

This notice take effect on Monday 28th, June, 2020 to Sunday 11th, July, 2021.
