The incumbent district chairperson of Ngora District, Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio, has crossed from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to the Democratic Front (DF).
Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio has today submitted his nomination forms and been nominated to contest in the DF primaries ahead of the upcoming national polls.
Speaking to the media after the nomination at the DF Party headquarters in Kampala, Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio noted that his departure from the NRM party was informed by a lack of democratic values, which are overshadowed by internal party electoral malpractices.
Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio revealed that he participated in and won the recent NRM primaries for the same seat; however, his victory was fraudulently transferred to another person, and he could not continue with such practices in the party.
Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio commended the DF leadership and members for the warm reception and committed to working to promote the party in the entire Teso region and beyond, where he has connections, adding that his values align with those of his new home, the Democratic Front.
Mr Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio is an educationist, an environmentalist, a social worker with 20 years experience of working with non profit organizations.
Mr. Pascal Amuriat, the Democratic Front’s Vice President in charge of the Eastern region, who accompanied Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio for his nomination and official crossover to DF, commended him for making the bold decision to leave NRM.
Mr. Pascal Amuriat noted that the DF Party is open to welcoming every Ugandan with goodwill, encouraging Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio to persuade more members from the NRM to join the DF.
Mr. Odongo Mike Lo Asio joins a growing number of politicians who have already crossed from FDC, NRM, and other parties to the Democratic Front.
The DF’s Electoral Commission has today nominated over 30 candidates, bringing the total number of aspirants who have returned expression of interest forms to the DF to over 1,000.
Today’s nominated aspirants were from Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Ngora, Gomba, Kampala, and other areas.
The Electoral Commission moves to the Masaka subregion tomorrow to handle the districts of: Masaka City,Masaka district Rural, Lyantonde, Lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Ssembabule, Kyotera, Rakai and Kalungu.
