Museveni Highlights NRM Ideology and Development Agenda During Campaign Rally in Soroti

By Jumah Kakomo and Kabuye Ronald

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has emphasized the core principles of the NRM ideology as he continues to intensify his presidential campaign trail in Soroti City and District, within the Teso Sub-region.

Addressing a large gathering at Soroti City Stadium, President Museveni reiterated that the NRM is a broad-based party anchored on the principles of patriotism and Pan-Africanism, which he said have been instrumental in driving Uganda’s progressive development over the years.

The President urged the electorate in Soroti City and the greater Teso Sub-region to vote for NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming general elections, citing their alignment with the party’s ideological foundation and commitment to continued transformation.

Highlighting major infrastructure achievements by the NRM government in Soroti and Teso, Museveni pointed to key road projects, expanded electricity distribution, and enhanced health facilities, including plans for an additional District General Hospital in Soroti. He also mentioned ongoing and future projects in road construction that are scheduled for completion in the next term.

President Museveni reminded the people of Teso that their region holds a landmark place in Uganda’s post-conflict restoration efforts, and he called upon them to maintain peace and stability as a foundation for further development and wealth creation.

He encouraged residents to take advantage of opportunities in commercial agriculture, trade, and regional markets across East Africa and the continent, as part of the NRM’s broader agenda for economic transformation.

Among the initiatives outlined were: Expansion of electricity distribution networks, Construction of more tarmac roads, Establishment of additional health facilities, Strengthening of free universal education programs and Water for production and irrigation projects to support agriculture

The NRM candidate also elaborated on irrigation systems and fish pond programs designed to boost local production and food security.

On wealth creation, Museveni assured the people of Soroti that the government’s cattle restocking initiative would continue, integrating all households and sector groups into a comprehensive wealth creation drive. He emphasized the importance of understanding the distinction between wealth creation—which empowers individuals economically—and development, which provides the necessary infrastructure to support that growth.

President Museveni concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to sustaining peace, expanding economic opportunities, and delivering prosperity for the people of Soroti and the entire Teso Sub-region.
