The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has intensified his presidential campaign in the Bugisu sub-region, starting with a major rally in Sironko District.

Addressing thousands of supporters, General Museveni assured the people of Sironko of the NRM government’s commitment to expand and modernize the coffee sector as a key pillar for wealth creation and economic transformation in the area.
He emphasized that the NRM government has consistently championed mass socioeconomic empowerment programs, particularly through agriculture and coffee sector development. Museveni dismissed claims by FDC candidate Nandala Mafabi, who he accused of attempting to take credit for NRM’s coffee initiatives.

Recalling past interventions, Museveni narrated how he rescued the Bugisu Cooperative Union from collapse by settling debts incurred under Nandala Mafabi’s leadership. Among the assets saved was the land that now hosts the Mbale Industrial Park, which he said stands as proof of NRM’s dedication to regional development.
The NRM flag bearer further urged the people of Sironko to embrace viable economic ventures under the government’s Parish Development Model (PDM) and to utilize increased PDM funds for household income generation.

He cautioned residents against being misled by opposition politicians, advising them to instead follow the NRM’s practical approach to wealth and job creation. Museveni cited examples such as Minister of State for Transport Fred Byamukama, who successfully implemented the NRM’s “four-acre model” for wealth creation.
Museveni encouraged the people of Sironko not to wait for large infrastructure projects before pursuing personal development, noting that “wealth creation can thrive anywhere, starting at the household level.”

On service delivery, the NRM candidate pledged to: Upgrade existing health centers and build new ones in Sironko District to improve healthcare access. Expand educational infrastructure, committing to ensure every parish and sub-county has a government primary and secondary school. The district currently has 111 government primary schools and 12 secondary schools. And Support free education for all children in government schools.
In addition, Museveni announced plans to expand water distribution coverage in Sironko District beyond the current 89%, including the introduction of a “Water for Irrigation” initiative to support agricultural productivity.

He also outlined the government’s agenda to extend electricity access to more areas within the district in the next term, reaffirming the NRM’s commitment to inclusive development.
Museveni concluded his address by rallying the electorate in Sironko to vote for the NRM, saying it remains the only party with a proven record of peace, stability, and socioeconomic transformation for all Ugandans.
