Museveni Pledges UGX 80 Billion for Cattle Restocking, Approves Erute District During Lira Campaign Rally

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has announced that new lists of cattle restocking beneficiaries will be generated to cover all households in the Lango, Acholi, and Teso sub-regions, with over UGX 80 billion already set aside to kick-start the program following a Cabinet resolution.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Lira City, President Museveni said the initiative is aimed at restoring household incomes and accelerating economic recovery in post-conflict areas.

During the same rally, Museveni approved the creation of Erute District in the Lango sub-region, a move intended to resolve the long-standing boundary dispute between Lira City and Lira District.

The NRM flag bearer urged voters in Lira City and District to elect level-headed, responsible, and ideologically grounded leaders, emphasizing that sustained development and socio-economic transformation require leaders committed to maintaining and expanding existing government investments.

Museveni said his leadership is driven by a “God-given mission” to save Uganda from anarchy while steering the country toward development, unity, and stability. He noted that the NRM government has laid a strong foundation for national development through non-sectarian politics, peace, and unity, adding that historical conflicts previously delayed progress in northern Uganda.

The President also advised residents to adopt integrated farming, combining fishing, irrigation, and agriculture, confirming that government support for both irrigation and aquaculture will be prioritized in his next term.

He further revealed plans to construct three additional hydropower dams in the Lango sub-region to increase electricity generation and support manufacturing and other development initiatives. Museveni also guided leaders and citizens on the implementation and improvement of the Parish Development Model (PDM).

Meanwhile, the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Anita Among, reported the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Betty Amongi, to the NRM National Chairman over alleged blackmailing of the NRM government using state resources meant for service delivery.

Among rallied voters in Lira City and the wider Lango sub-region to show appreciation for the NRM’s transformative achievements by voting overwhelmingly for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in the upcoming general elections.

The NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Dennis Hamson Obua, pledged a landslide victory for the party across all elective positions.

The rally concluded with the Lira City NRM Chairperson, Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng, presenting the city’s memorandum to the President.
