Police are still offering a Shs50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects behind the murder of a couple at Lugonjo in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District, more than a year after the incident.

The couple, identified as David Mutaga, 69, and Deborah Florence Mutaga, 62, were attacked at night on July 6, 2025, after hosting a dinner at their residence to celebrate their return from Switzerland.
Addressing journalists at Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, on Monday, Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said investigations were ongoing and the reward remained available to anyone with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
“The investigations will never end until the culprits are apprehended, regardless of the timeframe, and we still have the money for whoever has the right information,” Rusoke said.

He explained that several suspects had initially been arrested but were later released because investigators lacked sufficient evidence to sustain the allegations against them.
“We can make arrests, but if there is no evidence, they have to be released,” he said.
During the investigations, CCTV footage reportedly captured the prime suspect, who allegedly stabbed the couple, holding a sharp object while hooded and shouting after the attack.
Police have continued to appeal to members of the public who may have information about the crime to come forward and assist investigators in identifying and apprehending the suspect.

Meanwhile, the couple’s bodies remained in a mortuary following a disagreement between their orphaned children and relatives over their burial arrangements. The dispute was eventually taken to court for resolution.
The court ruled in favour of the children, who wanted their parents cremated and buried in Switzerland.
The bodies were eventually transported to Switzerland, where the couple was laid to rest in May 2026.
Rusoke urged anyone with information that could help solve the murder to confidentially approach the relevant authorities, assuring the public that such information could assist police in bringing those responsible to justice.
