Tembo Steel Company has answered the call by the people of Iganga and Mayuge districts in Busoga region by donating 100 hospital beds to the government health centers in the districts.
The beds have been received by the third deputy prime minister also Woman MP for Mayuge district Lukia isanga Nakadam at Tembo steels company in Iganga, Bulamagi sub county. Who also used the opportunity to applaud the company but to also call for more and continuous support from the private sector.

The minister further urged the steel companies to always prioritize the safety of their employees and to ensure that they compensate those who get exposed to danger.
Lack of enough hospital beds is one of the major challenges faced by most government hospitals in the two districts especially the Iganga general hospital, the hospital that hosts over 600 patients on a daily.

Muwereeza Karim, the assistant District health officer for Iganga district, says despite accessibility of the Iganga general hospital and it hosting over 600 patients in a day, the hospital can only admit 100 patients since they are the only beds they have been having. He thus applauded Tembo steel company for boosting their hospitals with more beds.
Meanwhile the minister also toured around the factory and monitored the working conditions of the 3000 employees at this factory.
