Journalist Kasirye Asharaf still in ICU, Bobi Wine sets up mobile number 4 his treatment contribution

By Mukembo Wilfred

The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has revealed that shot Ghetto tv journalist Asharaf Kasirye is still in intensive Care Unit at Lubaga hospital.

Bobi wine says Kasirye is still in ICU, in critical but stable condition though he cant speak as well.

He has set up a mobile number to receive contribution for Kasirye’s treatment.

“We checked on our brother, Asharaf Kasirye who is still struggling for his life in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Rubaga Hospital. Ashraf is in a critical, but stable condition. He cannot see or speak, but the doctors have given us hope that perhaps in a few weeks, he will be able to regain some of these facilities.

It was today that I appreciated the extent of damage caused to this brother by the brutal regime. Part of what we saw oozing out of his head was brain matter! It goes to show how severely damaged his head was. Yet in all this, we remain hopeful that Ashraf will be well!

We are thankful to all of you who have reached out and contributed towards his treatment which is very costly. We also appreciate all Ugandans in the diaspora who contributed towards the funeral expenses of our brother Frank! Many of you are still reaching out. For all who wish to contribute towards Ashraf’s hospital bill, we have put in place a phone number to specifically receive contributions for this cause. The number is 0707481738 (Registered as Rukundo Shiphra). God bless you. ” wrote Bobi wine on his social media page

It should be recalled, On Sunday morning freelance journalist Ashiraf Kasirye of Ghetto TV, Daniel Lutaaya of NBS TV, and Ali Mivule of NTV were injured as they covered the campaigns of presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine in Kyabakuza, Masaka.

Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) president Mathias Rukundo condemned the attack on media and vowed not to rest until the matter is fully investigated and justice served.

He urge all journalists to continue exercising their duties and freedoms without fear or favour.

“No amount of intimidation or exercise of unlawful acts of violence against the media fraternity will scare us into silence. We will continue to expose all the actions of violators of our rights and pursue all possible avenues to secure our freedoms” said Rukundo
