Journalists Association- UJA outs AGM- electoral roadmap

The umbrella body that unites journalists across the country on Monday 12, December released its proposed Annual General Assembly and electoral road map.

According to the road map released on 12th December 2022 they Issued the Notice Secretary General, on 13th DEC 2022 to 05th FEB 2023 Updating Members Registers by the Secretariate will start.

On the 26th JAN 2O23- 28th JAN 2023 All Candidates will be picking forms and the activity will be coordinated by the Vetting Committee. 30th JAN 2023- 1st FEB 2023 the Vetting Committee will vet all candidates while from 2nd FEB 2023– 25th FEB 2023 Open Campaigns By all Candidates will start.
On 15th FEB 2023- 18th FEB 2023 it will be displaying of the Member’s Registers Secretariate and on the 25th FEB 2023 the AGM Convened where the elections will as well conducted in the venue that will be communicated in the due course.

The association also released guidelines for Acquisition of the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) Identification Cards (IDS). Which include the following;

1. One must be a qualified journalist attached to a media house or otherwise as defined by the association’s constitution.

2. Must pick application form from the Secretary General (SG) office

3. Fill and return the form to the SG office.

4. Upon approval by the SG office then make payment of shillings 20,000 and 30,000 for the renewal and new members respectively to the Uganda Journalists Association Bank Account Number; 01073659206281 in DFCU Bank.

5. Return the payment slip to the SG office for filing and verification.

6. Carry with you an old ID if you intend to renew that shall be handed in for a new one upon clearance.

7. Upon confirmation, you will able to receive your ID in 24 hours’ time

Note; all IDS were suspended in March 2022, in line with the rebrand process of UJA @60 which had been launched to give an association new face and life. We are glad to inform you that we have resumed issuance of the same.
