Police in Kasangati Division have recovered the body of a two-year-old girl who went missing while playing with other children in her neighbourhood on October 27, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Kyomuhendo Dartiva Roseries, daughter of Atukwarse Lillian, a resident of Kasangati in Wakiso District.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the child disappeared while playing with other children in the neighbourhood, prompting a search for her whereabouts.
On the morning of October 28, 2026, a ransom note demanding Shs10 million was discovered at her mother’s gate, raising fears that the child had been kidnapped.
Police subsequently launched investigations and arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.

One of the suspects
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, identified one of the suspects as Muhumuza Joshua, a pedicurist who reportedly confessed to the crime.
According to Owoyesigyire, Muhumuza led investigators to a maize plantation in Kyetume, Gayaza, where the child’s body was recovered.

He also reportedly identified his alleged accomplice, Amusuguti Florence, who has since been arrested to assist with investigations.
Police further recovered a mobile phone from Muhumuza, which investigators are examining over its alleged use in making the ransom demands.
Preliminary findings indicate that Muhumuza was known to the child and her mother and had previously worked for the mother as a pedicurist.
His residence was reportedly separated from the family’s home by a perimeter wall.

The child’s body was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be processed in accordance with the law.
The case file is expected to be forwarded to the area Resident State Attorney for further legal advice.
Police have also extended their condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
