Renowned analytical journalist Ibra K Mukasa has been summoned by police at Central Police Station in Kampala to answer charges relating to an interview he did with the Uganda Netball Federation President, Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo exposing the rot and corruption tendencies at the National Council of Sports (NCS) on his online Youtube Channel show Extra Digest Mugobansonga where he hosts various guests to discuss about the critical matters in the country.

According to the summons sent to Ibrah K Mukasa of Extra Digest dated 13th, April, 2023, seen by this website and confirmed by various sources in police authorities, Ibrah K Mukasa who is also a journalist at government owned media house UBC Star fm and a private owned television station Spark TV under Nation Media is required to report to the CID Commander Kampala Metropolitan police at Central Police Station, CPS Kampala on Wednesday.
“You shall specifically report to D/IP Nakube Stephen Room 76 on Wednesday the 18th day of April 2023 at 1100HRS for interview and statement recording in allegations of Defamation” read the summon in parties.

Our impeccable sources within the police authorities revealed to this website that the person behind the summons is the Secretary General of National Council of Sports Dr. Patrick Ogwel who wants to threaten and coerce Ibrah K Mukasa to delete the interview he did with Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo since it exposes his misdoings at NCS.

It should be noted that this is not the first time Ibrah K Mukasa has been a target by the state and its actors for his critical and analytical reporting and show hosting. Just last month (March) he was summoned and detained at Kawempe police division for being critical of government yet he works with one of its media house. In the Kawempe Case, the state used a one Sadam Senoga alias God Father as conduit to open up defamation cases against him.

In the referred to interview, Hon.Sarah Babirye Kabanda accused Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel, the General Secretary of the National Council of Sports General of asking for kickbacks whenever disbursing funds to facilitate the National netball team.

She cited their trip to South Africa in 2021 for the Male Netball Championship where Ogwel reportedly demanded a kickback of Shillings 40 out of the Shillings 100 million allocated for the championship. And chewing the 30 million shillings which was meant for the team’s allowances for the same team together with Mina Mande and Richard Muhumuza.
Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo also detailed a number of corruption scandals Ogwel has been embroiled in at the NCS
