Uganda under 20 “Hippos” wins 2020 CECAFA cup

Uganda under 20 football team has been declared as the winner for the  2020 CECAFA U-20 Challenge Cup, after overcoming the defending companions Tanzania at 4-1 result.

The win was registered at the Black Rhino Academy Sports Stadium in the tourist town of Karatu on Wednesday, 2nd December 2020.

Richard Basangwa, Steven Sserwadda, Ivan Bogere, and Kenneth Semakula scored the four goals for Uganda while Selemani Hamisi netted the consolation for the hosts in a match where Uganda also missed a penalty kick.

Below are the awards of the entire tournament

  • Final: Uganda 4-1 Tanzania
  • Fair Play Award: Tanzania
  • Best Goalkeeper: Simon Justine (South Sudan)
  • Top Scorers: Ivan Bogere (Uganda), Selemani Hamis (Tanzania) – 5 Goals
  • Bronze Medal: South Sudan
  • Best Player: Pascal Isindo
