Vision Group journalist Tony Lule granted bail

Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Court has on Thursday released the Vision Group journalist, Tony Lule who was arrested on 12th/Nov/2020.

He is accused of cyber harassment section 24(1), 2(b) of the Computer Misuse act 2011 for allegedly threatening to inflict injury or physical harm to the President’ son who is also a senior presidential advisor Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and his family members, between Jan 2020 and Nov 2020 in various places of Uganda using his You tube channel.

Buganda Road Chief Magistrate released Lule on a cash bail of Shs. 500,000 and 5,000,000 to each of his sureties before adjourning the matter to 05th January 2021.

Lule was held incommunicado at SIU Kireka for over a week but later charged and sent to Kitalya prison.

Journalist’s organizations like Uganda journalists Association (UJA) and Human Rights Network for Journalists condemned the act of keeping Tony Incommunicado without duly following a court process.
