The chairperson for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Buganda and the minister for tourism Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi has clarified that their party has never released money to support its candidates like many claim.

There has been allegations doing round that the top leaders in the NRM chewed the 40 billion shillings that was meant to support their candidates at all levels.

Hon. Kiwanda revealed the above while unveiling the NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’ campaign road map in Buganda that will commence on the 21st of this month.

Kiwanda said that the party only released 24 billion shillings to facilitate structural activities especially on the village level.

“We sent minimal money of 300,000 shillings per village to facilitate the mobilization for the NRM support not to share amongst themselves or bribe voters but to buy things that support the Standard Operating Procedures SOPs, fuel, drinks and eats among others.

For the case of our candidates we have not yet released any money to support them and once the money is out it shall be sent to their personal bank account or mobile money” said Kiwanda.

Kiwanda also called upon all NRM mobilizers and chairpersons to support and embark on the door to door campaigns on the village level since it’s the center of their focus to win the support of the people.
