Bobi Wine blames Omah Lay concert on “corrupt gov’t”, calls for his release

By Mukembo Wilfred

Opposition’ National Unity Platform (NUP) president and presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has attributed the arrest of Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi the manager of Temilade  the Nigerian artistes to a corrupt government.

“the arrest of Omah lay  is not about COVID19. It’s an act of shame by a corrupt government that operates on double standards. The artist was booked, obtained a work permit and performed under police protection, why arrest him?

While some Ugandan artists are staging pro-Museveni shows with thousands of people in blatant violation of the same SOPs under the guard of police and the military, a foreign artist is persecuted to cover up the shame.” Wrote bobi wine on his official facebook page

it should be noted that the seven were arrested by Police on Sunday in connection to the unauthorized concert that was held on Saturday night in Ddungu Resort, Munyonyo, Kampala Capital City.

They were subsequently remanded to prison on Monday afternoon by the makidye court grade one magistrate Jude Okumu up to Wednesday 16, December, 2020,  on charges of negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious disease as per C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act.
