Buganda breaks silence on rampant abduction and torture: the commanders aim at gov’t collapse

The Buganda Katikiro (Premier) Charles Peter Mayiga has called upon government and those in authority to ease the tension in the country by stopping the abduction, brutality, torture of suspects, illegal detention of citizens and murders since the commanders of such aim at government collapse.

While addressing youths breed from the Buganda Youth Council who were elected in various leadership positions of the country in the just concluded general elections at Buganda Headquarters in Bulange Mengo , Katikiro Mayiga said that  those who order for the abduction, torture, murder of citizens are enemies of government because their actions make citizens to resent government which can easily lead to its collapse.

Mayiga said that those opposed to the current government are not its enemies but rather the real enemies are those that perpetuate the brutality that is detested by all citizens of Uganda.

He urged government to arrest the suspected law breakers following the prescribed legal and professional procedures after thorough investigations have been carried out since the abduction, torture and illegal detention only makes the government weaker and unpopular and as result resentment are generated hence government collapse.

Mayiga also urged the Buganda mentored youth elected leaders to address the issues for which they are elected for which include advocating for the federal system of governance, settlement of land issues especially by stopping land grabbing and evictions, economic initiatives that will create employments for the youths and all the unemployed, better health services, an education system that will equip the citizens with relevant skills, preserving and protection of the environment among others.

meanwhile the former Buganda Youth Council speaker who is also the elected member of parliament for Nakaseke central constituency, Allan Mayanja Ssebunya on behalf of his colleagues commitment unwavering advocacy for Buganda issues and the citizens’ needs.
