Kasese School massacres: UPC calls for increment in financial assistance, speaks out on Oyam County by election.

By Jumah Kakomo

The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party has applauded the government of Uganda for the timely assistance to the families that are affected by the massacres of Mpondwe Lhubiriha Secondary School students in Kasese District which left 42 people dead.

UPC which has strongly condemned the acts of attacks on innocent Ugandans said the Mpondwe Lhubiriha secondary school is a tragedy of unbearable magnitude and thus very sad experience!

UPC spokesperson Arach Orach Sharon, however said UPC is dissatisfied with the government financial assistance of five million to the bereaved family and the less than five million shillings given for medical assistance.

“The usual assistance of 5 million by Government to bereaved families and less than that as medical to the injured ones is insufficient and not reflective of the day to socio-economic conditions. We are experiencing a high cost of living, prices of goods and services are escalating. Medication is equally very expensive. The assistance should therefore be revised upwards.” Said Sharon

UPC’s head of communication and information Muzeyi Faizo

In the same way, UPC’s head of communication and information Muzeyi Faizo rallied the people of Oyam county North to vote for their candidate Dr. Eunice Otuko Apio who was duly nominated on Monday to contest for the constituency’s seat.

UPC also called for peaceful campaigns, free and fair elections throughout the exercise.

Uganda People’s Congress further eulogized the works of the Supreme Court Judge Hon. Lady Justice Stella Arach Amoko who passed on Saturday 17th June 2023 at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
