Gabriel, Mohamed Elneny and Martin Odegard scored as Arsenal had another defensive mistake which coasted the team one goal, but the win gave Arsenal a lead in their Europa League last-16 against Olympiacos.
Having got the lead through Martin Odegaard’s first goal for the club, Arsenal looked set to win the game. After surviving David Luiz mistake in the half-time, Arsenal gifted Olympiacos an equalsier when Youssef El-Arabi intercepted in Ceballos’s pass.
Youssef El-Arabi who scored the winning goal when Olympiacos was knocking Arsenal out last season’s tournament has scored the equalizer, but Gabriel headed in a second half and Elneny’s wicked strike put them in control ahead of the return leg.
Olympiacos will have to win the second leg which will be in London at Emirates Stadium next Thursday by a three goals margin if they are to go through to the quarter-finals.
