Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu, Bishop Kibuuka Eulogize Archbishop Kizito Lwanga

By Kabuye Ronald

The Archbishop Church of Uganda Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu and the presiding Bishop for the Evangelical Orthodox Church (EOC) in Uganda Jacinto Kibuuka have eulogized the Kampala Roman Catholic Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

Archbishop Dr. Kizito Lwanga was found dead in his room on Saturday morning.

Archbishop Kazimba has eulogized the deceased as a person who advocated for the poor and oppressed.

“Just yesterday, we walked the Way of the Cross together, and it is a shock to all of us. His clear Gospel voice of advocacy for the poor and oppressed, his commitment to Christian unity, and justice for all will be dearly missed.

Yet, we know that he has moved into the nearer presence of our Lord and is advancing from glory to glory.  He fought the good fight; he finished the race; he kept the faith.  Now he, who longed for our Lord’s appearing, receives the crown of righteousness.” Arch. Kazimba wrote to Fr. Pius Ssentumbwe the Kampala Archdiocese Chancellor.

On behalf of the Evangelical Orthodox Church in Uganda, Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka who also once happened to be his personal assistance while still serving in the Roman Catholic Church eulogized the late as great person who touched the life of many through his gospel and works.

“We grieve and condole with the entire Roman Catholic Church and the country for the sudden death of the Archbishop Lwanga.

He has done so many great things for Christianity and the country at large especially in building the Roman Catholic institution, he has educated many including myself, and he has also been a great advocate for peace and human rights.

May the almighty God rest his soul in eternity” said Bishop Kibuuka on a phone interview.
