As the country joins that rest of the world to commemorate World Aids day, Nakaseke Central Member of Parliament Hon. Allan Mayanja Sebunya has rallied youths to join the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Speaking to this website, Hon. Allan Mayanja Ssebunya said that Youths make up 77% of the Ugandan population which puts them at risk of getting the virus since they make up the biggest population and hence the need for their sensitization and empowerment to use a condom, abstain or be faithful to their partners and those with the virus to keep on medication.
He also advised married women or those in relationship not cause chaos, fights or violence when find their partners with condoms since it’s a clear sign that one is keeping safe though he quickly make a disclaimer that he doesn’t support adultery.
He emphasized that getting infected is not the end of the world since many people have aged with the virus because they keep on medication and follow the doctors’ advise which should be the way to go by all the infected persons.

Hon. Ssebunya also encouraged the infected persons to come out and declare their status, sensitize the people in their communities about the same and those with negative status not stigmatize the infected ones.
In the same way, Hon. Ssebunya wants government officials that swindle funds for fighting AIDS not only to be arrested, charged or convicted but also their assets confiscated to compensate for the funds lost.
The theme of World AIDS Day 2021 is “End inequalities. End AIDS”. With a special focus on reaching people left behind, WHO and its partners are highlighting the growing inequalities in access to essential HIV services.
