The Alternative Digitalk Journalist Bikobere, Novelist Tuhumbise granted bail

The Makindye Chief Magistrates Court has granted bail to author Norman Tumuhimbise and journalist Farida Bikobere.

The two who were part of the nine journalists belonging to the Alternative DigiTalk TV, who were arrested by military from their offices in Makindye Lukuli during a military raid were released on a cash bail of shs 500,000 each.

Alternative Digitalk Tv journalist Bikobere Farida 27 years and its Chief executive officer Norman Tumuhimbise 36 years who also doubles as a novelist were charged with cyber stalking and disturbing the peace and quiet environment of the president of the republic of Uganda.

The state claim that the two and still at large between January 2020 and 9th march 2022 at Lukuli Makidye division in Kampala district willfully, maliciously and repeatedly used electronic communication to wit alternative digital online television and relayed offensive information to the politics of komanyoko, unsowing the mustard seed and liars and accomplices directed against the person of the president of the republic.

The state further allege that the intention of the two songs was also to disturb the peace and quiet of the president of the republic of Uganda.

It should be noted that on Thursday 10, march.2022 evening Military police heavily deployed at the offices based in Makindye-Lukuli-Nanganda Road with no one allowed entry or exit and in the process various properties were taken and nine people were arrested before whisked away.

Those who were arrested included: Norman Tumuhimbise, Mukose Arnold Anthony, Faridah Bikobera Lilian, Lilian Luwedde, Nabukeera Teddy, Mukiibi Jeremiah, Turyahabwe Rogers and Jeje Wabyona.

However on Tuesday evening the seven journalists were released on police bond.
