Rwampara welcomes new RDC

By Lawrence Mayanja

It was a mixture of joy and excitement at the Rwampara District Headquarters as the newly appointed Resident District Commissioner, Robert Atuhaire Rwase received instruments of power for his new deployment.

Atuhaire was appointed by President Museveni in a March 23rd reshuffle of RDCs, RCCs and their Deputies. He replaces Mr. Emmy Kateera Turyagyenyi who was posted as RDC Hoima.

Mr. Atuhaire was treated to a heroes’ welcome with hundreds of district employees, Councilors and a few electorates finding their way to the handover venue.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity intimated to us that there were plans to welcome the officials in a motor convoy but this was turned down by the RDC who preferred a simple entry.

Key among those that graced the event were; District Chairman Owomugasho Richard, District Police Commander, ASP Steven Kamar, District Internal Security Officer, amongst others who indeed congratulated the President’s envoys upon his deployment.

In his acceptance speech, Atuhaire, called upon the technical people to prioritize hard work and corruption-free principles as they embrace the new challenges ahead.

On the reported political friction from the leaders, Mr. Atuhaire called for unity adding that Party leadership in the district is open to working together with the new team unreservedly.

He further pledged to work tirelessly to keep a united district that will guarantee efficiency in service delivery and peace.

Rwampara was part of the greater Mbarara and is one of the Districts that have always found favor before Museveni’s eye with appointments in key positions.
