Bishop Kibuuka urged government to reduce on the taxes on essential goods that are produced in the country since post covid effects are still real. “People took almost two years under lockdown, some lost their jobs, business and even customers and the economy is not stable yet thus the government should do something realizable especially by reducing the taxes levied on the local manufacturers of those essential commodities”

Bishop Kibuuka also warned that if the commodity prices continue to escalate, it might result into an increase in criminality which will highly cost the government.

He further requested the president to embrace parliament’s recommendation of terminating the coffee contract that was entered between government and Uganda Vinci Coffee Company limited saying it’s not good for the country and coffee farmers.
