President Museveni appoints 16 new high court judges

The president of Uganda H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed 16 new high court judges in acting capacity for two years.

According to the Judicial Service Commission, communications officer Maria Theresa Nabulya, the appointments are as an outcome of the Commission’s ongoing recruitment exercise of Judicial Officers at various levels into the judiciary service. 

She said that these are the largest ever appointment of Judges of the High Court at that level by the President and they believe it will enhance the capacity of the High Court to expeditiously dispose of cases and tackle backlog.

Those appointed include the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate His worship Singiza Karekona Douglas, who came into spotlight in the matter where the state is accusing the award winning Novelist Kakwenza Rukira Bashaija of offending President Museveni and the first son and Commander of the Land Forces Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Others include; Her worship Ikit Mary, Her Worship Matovu Nassuna Flavia, His Worship Samuel Emokor, Her Worship Susan Kanyange, Namanya Bernard, Patricia Kahingi Asiimwe, Ocaya Thomas Ojele Rubanga, Christine Kaahwa, Patricia Mutesi, Okello George, Bukirwa Faridah Shamilah, Magala Harriet Grace, Acwllam Collins, Nagawa Cella and Nshimye Allan paul Mbabazi.
