Why President Idi Amin missed tweeting.

By Ndawula Ronald

Idi Amin’s fame will never be extinguished in the world because of what he really managed to accomplish.

When you delve deeper into Amin’s mind you find an innocent soul overwhelmed by power and loved the idea of keeping it forever.

Through Amins quotes you realise he was not a tyrant by design but when he followed up on his wish to keep power he vainly entered the bottomless abyss where all dictators like Hitler and others to come belong.

In his famous quote about human rights and freedom of speech, Amin said,'”There is freedom of speech, but I cannot guarantee freedom after speech” ~ Idi Amin.

This implies that Amin was very sincere, clear and unequivocal about his behaviour and crossing his red line would tantamount to death.

“I do not want to be controlled by any superpower. I myself consider myself the most powerful figure in the world, and that is why I do not let any superpower control me.” ~ Idi Amin

Amin in his world knew without doubt that he was more powerful than the insuferrable European and United States and didn’t give a damn about voicing his opinions up and aloud about his neighbours.

He even thought about attacking Kenya and shifting the boundaries in the east and south and asking former Tanzania President Muwalimu Julius for a hand in marriage.

“The problem with me is that I am fifty or one hundred years ahead of my time. My speed is very fast. Some ministers have had to drop out of my government because they could not keep up.” ~ Idi Amin

ID Amin did not only think he is infallible but thought he was  immortal and coming directly from the heavens.

Ugandans are peaceful, God loving and not very interested in hurting others for power. That’s why people who enjoy a rough ride, and sadistic approach to governance can have a very easy ride on them and made to think its their wisdom, they are powerful and are indispensable.

Amin thrived like this for eight years and donned himself as the wisest and I believe if it was a tweeter generation Amin would possess the highest following in the world.

With the tweeting general up and making headlines and diplomatic boardrooms and meeting spaces  across East Africa busy I see Amin’s incarnate of an individual overwhelmed with power and acts in total disregard and disrespect of international and local protocol and uses his position to demolish all standards of diplomacy ever written.

From the tweets, I gather that, Musevenis long hold onto power has rendered his son too desperate to replace him.

when the youth in Mitooma over the weekend behaved  like fronting the old man after 2026 this rubbed the young Gen. on the wrong side.

The tweet is  reminding the father that 40 years is too much and enough is enough and if not, then we should expand our territory Eastwards to Nairobi since Kenya is weak.

I can be there in 2 weeks! I will be staying in Eastlands and already have friends in Carnival.

Don’t care about democracy we shall teach them revolutionary ideas.

For fear of the drone I have stopped thinking about the fun in tweets but still enjoy the ripple effects.

If Hon.Sewanyana had tweeted such he would be in Kitalya for treason, oh! He is already there. Ndawula Ronald, the author is the former chairperson of Luwero district
