Legislators table Strong evidence pinning Namuganza before the ad-hoc committee

By Hannah Marion Namukasa

The ad-hoc committee that was last week instituted to probe State Minister Ms Persis Namuganza for misconduct and misbehavior has this afternoon commenced receiving pressing evidence.

After the committee chaired by the Mbarara City South MP Mr Mwine Mpaka commenced proceedings, a pile of pinning evidence was furnished to the committee pointing various scenarios of misconduct and misbehavior of Minister Namuganza.

This evidence included material from the past and recently recorded scenarios of misconduct which included using unparliamentarily language.

As he filed his evidence, the Ntungamo Municipality legislator Mr Yona Musingunzi urged the committee to expedite the proceedings since movers and the seconders of the censure motion had overwhelming evidence.

To this end, the other witness implicating Minister Namuganza, the Kazo Member of Parliament Mr Dan Kimosho asked the seven-member team to consider evidence from the 10th Parliament.

“I request that the committee take interest in the history of this person,”Mr Kimosho told MPs reasoning that: “It will help us a decision. The Hon Minister has consistently put this House to disrepute.”

Last week, Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa named a seven member team to entertain evidence leveled against Minister Namuganza and later seal her fate on whether to be censured or not.

Minister Namuganza has only tomorrow to file her response to the overwhelming evidence filed against her and thereafter allow the committee process all documents before and report to House with a detailed report.
