Speaker Among declines to relieve Ssemujju of his position as FDC whip until evidence of the party resolution tabled

By Kabuye Ronald

The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has declined to effect the letter from Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Secretary General Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi relieving the Kira Municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda of his duty as party Whip replacing him with Mawokoto South MP Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi

Speaker Among relied on the petition by nine out of the 31 FDC legislators asking the speaker to halt the changes, accusing the party Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi of taking the decision without consulting the Party’s National Executive Committee.

Speaker Among has asked the FDC Secretary General to provide evidence of the resolution of the party organs on the sacking of Ssemujju Nganda as their whip.

She also asked the FDC Party leadership to address the issues raised in the petition, saying the failure to do so would affect harmony, cohesion and operations at Parliament.

It should be noted that in a letter dated August 7, 2023, the party announced they had replaced Ssemujju Nganda with Mawokota South MP Yusuf Nsibambi as the party whip with immediate effect.
