French Amb. Xavier Sticker leads French Business Club of Kampala to explore the future of e commerce at Jumia fulfillment centre

Jumia Uganda in collaboration with the French Business club of Kampala embarked on an enlightening journey into the world of e-commerce with an exclusive visit to the Jumia Uganda fulfillment centre.

 The visit provided members of the French business club of kampala with a unique opportunity to gain insights into the inner workings of one of Uganda’s leading e-commerce platforms and learn about the technologies and processes driving the future of retail.

Led by Thomas Pelletier, president of the French business club of Kampala, and with the esteemed presence of the French ambassador, His Excellency Xavier Sticker, the visit to the Jumia Uganda fulfillment centre showcased the intricate operations behind the seamless online shopping experience offered by Jumia. Members of the French business club of Kampala were guided through various sections of the fulfillment centre, where they witnessed firsthand the process of receiving, storing, and dispatching orders to customers across the nation.

During the visit, Thomas Pelletier, president of the French business club of kampala said that they are delighted to have had the opportunity to visit the Jumia Uganda fulfillment centre and learn more about the fascinating world of e-commerce.

” The experience has been eye-opening, and we are grateful to Jumia Uganda for opening their doors to us and sharing valuable insights into their operations, “said Thomas Pelletier, president of the French Business club of Kampala.

During the visit, representatives from Jumia Uganda provided detailed explanations of the technology-driven logistics and inventory management systems employed to ensure efficiency and accuracy in order fulfillment. Members of the French business club of Kampala also had the chance to engage in discussions with Jumia Uganda staff, asking questions and exchanging ideas about the evolving landscape of e-commerce in Uganda and beyond.

The chief executive officers (CEO) at Jumia Uganda Vinod Goel, said they believe that education and collaboration are essential in driving innovation and progress.

”By hosting the French business club of Kampala , along with His Excellency the French ambassador to Uganda, at our fulfillment centre, we aimed to foster a deeper understanding of e-commerce and inspire future leaders to embrace the opportunities  presented by digital commerce.”Vinod Goel added.

The visit to the Jumia Uganda fulfillment centre marks a significant step in the French Business club of Kampala’s mission to promote cultural exchange and learning opportunities for its members. Through firsthand experiences like this, the club aims to broaden its members’ horizons and deepen their understanding of various industries and technologies shaping the world today.

The French ambassador to Uganda His Excellence Xavier Sticker, thanked Jumia Uganda for hosting him and applauded them to come up with e-commerce initiative saying it is the only way to go to compete internationally as the world is dynamic

He said they will always liaise with the government, development partners with other stakeholders to promote modern technology as a measure to also build strong rapport.

CEO Vinod Goel further highlighted some of the challenges they face while executing their work such as; high cost of internet, limited infrastructure such as roads, lack of well-defined addresses to deliver packages, lack of clear regulations on data security and protection, and a gap in skills attained by graduates that are supposed to drive software/IT development to facilitate e-commerce.
