In a bid to fight cases of aggravated robbery and accidents as a result of parking in ungazetted places, link bus limited has started partnering with various oil companies on various routes to curb the vice.
Among the partnerships so far signed include that of Stabex international limited along Mityana road and shell Uganda.
Tom Best Alinde the public relations manager of link bus limited informed link bus drivers and conductors who converged at their offices in kisenyi bus terminal, Kampala that the aim of these partnerships with oil companies is for them to stop parking in ungazetted places because they are unsafe and risky for passenger’s lives.
He noted that quite often they have seen buses parking in ungazetted places as a result of passenger’s requests that have various challenges like peeing and defecating in the bushes hence endangering the environment.
Among the expectations from these partnerships Alinde revealed offering spaces for parking, giving link bus limited priority in case they pass by their oils stations, offering good reception from their employees, good sanitation among others.

Alinde also reminded drivers on the express penalties for environmental breaches under National Environment Management Act that government started implementing in April 2023.
However some drivers and conductors revealed that some oil stations on various routes have received complaints from passengers that oil stations tend to ask for fees from passengers before using their toilets and this affects passengers since many don’t move with cash and that’s why they end up parking in ungazeted places.

Steven Kazibwe the sales and Marketing manager of stabex international limited committed to follow up on such complaints because their guidelines prohibits them from soliciting money from passengers for toilet usage.
He also committed to implement whatever was agreed upon in their document and urged drivers to avoid parking in ungazeted places since they are dangerous.
Alinde who declined to revealed the time frame of their partnership with Stabex international and shell Uganda in their absentia assured drivers to continue engaging with various oil companies on various routes used by link bus services as one of the move to improve their services to their customers.
