Burundian National Hacks Two People to Death

A 30-year-old Burundian national allegedly hacked to death two fellow Burundian men, aged approximately 30 and 20.  The double murder occurred in Kawempe Zone, Kisenyi III Parish, Kampala Central.

It is alleged that a 30-year-old male suspect, only identified as Emma alias “Young,” a Burundian national and resident of the area, attacked and killed two fellow Burundian over unknown reason and after he tried to commit suicide by cutting his own throat.

The first victim names not yet known was allegedly attacked while returning from work as a hawker and died instantly after his neck was cut, the suspect then reportedly moved about 300 meters to the second victim’s residence, where he attacked him while asleep and similarly caused his instant death.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson after the attacks, the suspect is said to have inflicted serious injuries on himself by cutting his neck, Members of the public restrained him and alerted Police. 

He was found in critical condition and rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment under Police guard.

Police and scenes of crime officers visited the scene and documented both crime scenes, recovered two knives suspected to have been used in the attacks, recorded statements from witnesses, and conveyed the bodies to city mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination.

Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and trace their next of kin as investigations into the motive and circumstances of the incident continue.
