Buganda Kingdom Premier Clarifies on Kabaka Mutebi way abouts

In the heart of Buganda, a kingdom steeped in tradition and heritage, concerns have been mounting over the whereabouts and well-being of their revered leader, Kabaka Ronald Mutebi. Speculations ran rife, especially on social media, as weeks passed with no sight of the Kabaka in public engagements. However, in a recent Buganda kingdom Lukiik parliament, Premier Charles Peter Mayiga addressed the pressing issue head-on.

“Buganda, hear this,” declared Mayiga, his voice resonating with authority. “Our Kabaka remains abroad, under the care of his medical handlers.”

The news, while somewhat reassuring, did little to quell the worries of the kingdom’s subjects. The Kabaka’s absence since March had cast a shadow over the land, particularly as his birthday run approached, an event eagerly awaited by many.

On the day of the run, anticipation turned to disappointment as the Kabaka’s absence was keenly felt. Instead, Princess Royal Dr. Agnes Nabaloga stepped in to fulfill the ceremonial duties, her presence offering a semblance of continuity in the Kabaka’s stead.

With the weight of concern bearing down on Buganda, Mayiga, in early April, provided clarity to the anxious populace. The Kabaka had embarked on a journey to Europe on March 21, seeking the expertise of his medical team. It was a journey fraught with uncertainty, echoing previous instances where the Kabaka’s health had become a topic of discussion.

In April 2021, as the Kabaka celebrated his 66th birthday, his frail appearance sparked debate and reflection within the kingdom. Some questioned the wisdom of allowing the Kabaka to engage in public appearances while others pondered the implications of his condition.

Yet, through it all, the resilience of Buganda endured. With each passing day, prayers were lifted for the swift recovery of their beloved leader, whose presence was not just symbolic but deeply woven into the fabric of Bugandan identity.
