Kadaga to contest as an independent candidate for speakership after being dumped by CEC

The outgoing Speaker of parliament also Kamuli woman MP,  Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has disclosed that she will be contesting as an independent candidate for the position of speaker of parliament.

The announcement followed National Resistance Movement Central Executive Committee decision to endorse the outgoing deputy speaker of parliament also Omoro county MP Rt.Hon. Jacob Oulanyah as the party candidate for the position of the speaker hence dumping Kadaga.

Addressing a press conference at Hotel Africana, a bitter Kadaga said she was dumped because she stands firm on the issues affecting the common people.

“My party has opted not to give me the flag so I have decided to contest. I was not given the chance to present myself. The only reason Am being pushed out is because I have stood by the things that affect the people.” Said kadaga

“For the last one year they have fought me also women are being relegated. So fellow Ugandans I ask you to urge your representatives to do the needful” Rebecca Kadaga added

She also said that there has been numerous attempts to eject her from the party adding that CEC elections were also full of intimidation and bribery.

“There have been many attempts to eject me from NRM party. During CEC elections, there was intimidation and massive funding from some party members against me.” Said Kadaga
