Police Launch Manhunt for Boda Boda Riders in Daylight Robbery at Eso Corner

Kampala Central Police Station has initiated a vigorous manhunt for a group of boda boda riders involved in a brazen daylight robbery captured on CCTV at Eso Corner along Kampala Road.

The incident, which occurred on July 15th, 2024, around 12 pm, has garnered attention after a video circulated widely on social media. The victim, identified as Mr. Joshi Keshav, a 32-year-old Indian national working with a tour and travel company at Crown House on Kampala Road, reported the robbery to Nkurumah Road Police Station.

Deputy Police Spokesman for Kampala Metropolitan, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed that Mr. Keshav was attacked while riding his motorcycle, surrounded by several boda boda riders amid heavy traffic at Eso Corner. The assailants violently assaulted him before making away with valuables, including a laptop valued at Uganda Shillings 2.2 million, UGX 150,000 in cash, an Ecobank debit card, and keys.

“Mr. Keshav sustained minor injuries to his head during the attack,” Owoyesigyire stated. He added that a dedicated team of investigators is diligently retracing Mr. Keshav’s route from the beginning of his journey to the scene of the crime.

“Significant leads and evidence have been gathered to aid in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in this audacious robbery,” Owoyesigyire assured the public.

The Kampala Central Police Station has urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects or details related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. The police emphasize their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Kampala, pledging to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
