Charity Ahimbisibwe is the new Head, UMWA Board of Directors

Uganda Media Women’s Association (UMWA) elected a new Board of Directors during the annual General meeting of 2024. The board is now headed by Charity Kalebbo Ahimbisibwe . Elections were held On September 28; 2024.

In the contest that pitted Charity against Sarah Kagingo and Acheng Joyce who were voted in absensure, Charity won. Catherine Ageno emerged as treasurer while Sarah Oringa was elected as the secretary.

The other members include. Flora Aduk. Kibuuka Diana and  Scovia mirembe.

In her acceptance speech, Charity Kalebbo Ahimbisibwe outlined a five point programme during her three year leadership. The five point programme includes:

1. Vigorous Fundraising for the organisation.

2. Increased Advocacy of organisational programme and advocate the fairness and rights of female journalists.

3. Up social media presence of Umwa

4. Institutional Strengthening

5. Networking with other organisations so as to build lasting consortiums.

The outgoing board was headed by Dr Patricia Litho and served for 10 years.

The Uganda Media Womens Association was created 38years to advocate for the rights of female Journalists.
