The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, officially released the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results today, marking the conclusion of another successful examination season. Speaking at the event, Mrs. Museveni highlighted key developments, challenges, and opportunities in Uganda’s education sector.

A total of 797,444 candidates from 14,883 centers registered for the 2024 PLE, a significant increase from the 749,347 registered in 2023. Of these, 524,025 (65.7%) were Universal Primary Education (UPE) beneficiaries, while 273,419 (34.3%) were from non-UPE schools. She praised the growing participation, noting that the Universal Education Policy has contributed to increased school attendance and reduced dropout rates, now at 1.3%, down from 1.8% in 2019.

This year’s theme “embracing security and holistic assessment of learning in a dynamic environment, Despite the overall positive outcomes, Hon. Museveni expressed concern about schools registering normal learners under the “special needs” category to unfairly secure extra time during exams. She emphasized that such malpractice undermines the credibility of Uganda’s education system and called for strict disciplinary measures against those involved.

According to the school Principal Daphne Kato, a total of 215 candidates who sat primary leaving examinations at Kampala parent’s school, majority have scored first grade.

“I am grateful for this achievement, I want to thank members of staff, especially 2024 primary seven teachers, the well-disciplined pupils but above all chairman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and director Rajiv Ruparelia for providing everything on time,” said the School Principal Daphne Kato.
Among the performing pupils passing with a high first division, Fantasia Nowembabazi has scored 4, Abigaba Calvin scored, Jjuuko Adonis scored, Aineomugisha Sheenah Chebet, Nandaula Leah Mirembe and Patrick Ssenyonjo, popularly known as Fresh Kid who scored 11 and many more.
Kampala parent’s pupils benefit from an academically rigorous and innovative curriculum where they are encouraged to think independently and critically.

Kampala parents’ school is on an international level but follows a local curriculum.
It’s situated along lugogo by pass and has an enrolment of over 2500 pupils with 118 well trained teachers and over 150 non-teaching staff members. The pupils come from all over the world.

Discipline is a vital element in grooming pupils. It is the key to success as evidenced by the good performance for many consecutive years. The meals served in the school are appetizing and each day has its menu which varies with; rice matooke, sweet potatoes, beans, meat to mention but a few.
The Minister also applauded the Uganda Prisons Service for extending education opportunities to inmates, with 71 candidates sitting PLE at Luzira Prison and 37 at Mbarara Main Prison. She emphasized the transformative power of education in rehabilitation and character building.
