Patriarch Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, has arrived in Uganda for a highly anticipated three-day visit.

The Patriarch was given a warm and heartfelt welcome by a large crowd of Orthodox monks and nuns, who gathered in significant numbers at Entebbe International Airport to witness the historic arrival.
Lwemiyaga County Member of Parliament, Theodore Sekikubo, described the visit as a memorable occasion and emphasized that the Pope’s itinerary would include visits to key regions such as Gulu, Lwemiyaga, and the Acholi region. Sekikubo expressed confidence that the visit would strengthen ties between the Orthodox Church and Ugandans.

Nakimuli Hellen, the woman Member of Parliament for Kalangala, also highlighted the profound impact the visit would have on the Orthodox community. She emphasized that the Pope’s presence in Uganda would contribute significantly to the well-being of the Orthodox faithful, particularly in the areas of health and economic development.

The visit is expected to further deepen the relationship between the Ugandan Orthodox Church and the Patriarchate of Alexandria, with a focus on improving social and economic conditions for the community. The Pope’s itinerary will include visits to religious sites and meetings with local leaders and Orthodox Church members.
