A chaotic scene unfolded at Mapeera House along Kampala Road yesterday evening when police clamped down on members of the Fangone Forest group for disrupting business and blocking traffic. The scuffle, which began at around 5 p.m., was ignited when a group of individuals led by the popular singer Patrick Mulwana, known by his stage name Allien Skin, arrived at Mapeera House in three vehicles. Their sudden arrival sparked panic, with passersby fleeing in terror, fearing the noise from the vehicles’ engines was gunfire.
As tensions rose, a group of Boda Boda riders joined the fray, shouting loudly and further exacerbating the situation. The road was completely blocked, leaving travelers and businesses in the area stranded. The police from the Central Police Station quickly responded to the disturbance, with District Police Commander (DPC) SSP Martin Okoyo leading the operation. Seven members of the group were arrested, although Allien Skin managed to evade capture.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed that six individuals were arrested on various charges. Two of the suspects, identified as Olega Musa and Malinga David, face allegations of careless driving, while four others—Lwanga Denis, Magala Becker, Luzindana Hamza, and Akanyijuka Johnson—are being charged with public nuisance. The suspects appeared before the City Hall Chief Magistrate Court to answer to the charges.
This arrest follows a stern warning issued by the police earlier this year to musicians, urging them to cease holding processions following violent clashes during events like the Lubiri NKuka Festival and the Mpere Festival in Buloba. The confrontations between Allien Skin and fellow musician Pallaso had raised concerns about public safety.
Owoyesigyire further stated that three vehicles involved in the incident were impounded and are currently parked at the Central Police Station in Kampala. The police continue to search for Allien Skin and another driver who managed to escape the scene.
