Former Wakiso RDC Rose Kilabira Warns NRM Aspirants in Entebbe Over Greed

By Racheal N Namuli

As the 2026 general elections draw closer, tension is mounting among contenders for the Entebbe Municipality parliamentary seat, especially within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Currently, more than nine aspirants have expressed interest in the seat. The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) is leading with six aspirants, including Nabatta Namuli Joyce, Mugabi John, Babirye Lillian, Lubwama Stuart, and Robert Masaazi, among others. On the NRM side, three contenders have emerged so far: Shaka Steven Gashaija, Jovia Namaara, and Scholastica Baguma.

During a fundraising event held today for the construction of LC I and II offices in Busambaga, Katabi Town Council, Entebbe Municipality, former Wakiso Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Rose Kilabira addressed the growing internal competition within the NRM. She urged the three NRM aspirants to unite behind a single candidate if the party is to stand a chance of reclaiming the seat in 2026.

Kilabira encouraged the aspirants to seek guidance from former Entebbe Member of Parliament Rose Tumusiime, whom she praised for her political experience and dedication to the party. “Tumusiime has seen it all. Her experience could help guide the process of fronting one strong, united candidate for NRM,” Kilabira advised.

She cautioned the aspirants against selfishness and personal ambition, stating that true party loyalty requires unity and sacrifice. “If you are genuine NRM diehards, you should be driven by the desire for party success, not personal showmanship,” she emphasized.

Meanwhile, Kilabira also announced her own political ambitions. She intends to run for the Wakiso District Woman MP seat in the upcoming elections, arguing that the current MP, Betty Ethel Naluyima, has not adequately represented the interests of the district.
