The Democratic Front (DF) has officially nominated former Rubaga North Member of Parliament, Hon. Moses Kasibante, as the party’s flag bearer for the Lubaga Division mayoral race in the upcoming general elections.
Kasibante, who previously served two terms as MP for Rubaga North, was formally endorsed today by the DF Electoral Commission, chaired by Mr. Henry Lubowa.
He arrived for his nomination in high spirits, accompanied by several top party officials, including DF National Chairman Mr. Lubega Mukaaku, Secretary General Michael Sseninde Mabike, and Party Whip in Parliament and Entebbe Municipality MP, Hon. Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa.
Speaking to the media following his nomination, Hon. Kasibante criticized the current Lubaga Division leadership, claiming the area has suffered from political neglect. He called for a renewed political liberation in the division, citing poor leadership as the root cause of persistent local challenges.
“The people of Lubaga continue to grapple with high taxes and unfair property rates, deteriorating road infrastructure, and poor sanitation due to an inadequate drainage system,” Kasibante stated. “The current leadership has clearly failed to address these pressing issues.”
Hon. Kakembo Mbwatekamwa praised the party’s decision to nominate Kasibante, describing him as a seasoned and capable leader who has been thoroughly prepared for the role.
“We strongly believe that in Hon. Kasibante, the people of Lubaga have found a true liberator and a leader who can deliver the transformation they desperately need,” Kakembo remarked.
Kasibante is set to challenge the incumbent mayor, Zackey Mberaze Mawula of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who has faced criticism from residents for what they describe as underwhelming performance during his tenure.
